Vaccine Protocol

Two payment options for childhood immunizations are available at The Children’s Clinic of Oxford. The cost of vaccines covered by insurance, or the use of the Vaccine for Children program (VFC).

• If your insurance covers the cost of vaccines, your child is NOT eligible for the VFC program. You must read your insurance manual or check with your insurance company PRIOR to your child’s visit to know this information. We are unable to obtain this information for you.

• The VFC program is available for children whose insurance DOES NOT cover vaccines, children on the Medicaid program, children without insurance, or children of American Indian descent.

•If your insurance covers vaccines, then you are NOT eligible to receive immunizations under the VFC program.

• The VFC program requests that we charge $10.00 per vaccine to cover the cost of giving the vaccine(s), (syringes, alcohol, nurse’s time, etc.). If you cannot afford the $10.00 charge, please let us know.

• The vaccines given to children using the VFC program and children with insurance coverage of vaccines are the same medications. But, due to how they are supplied to our clinic, we must know prior to giving the vaccines which program you wish to utilize. Once chosen, we cannot after the fact and file on your insurance, or if your insurance does not pay, we cannot charge VFC.
